As the hot weather comes to an end in Dubai, Hord's Piano Studio, welcomes back all the students to a brand new school year!
Summer lessons have started from August for a few students, Please let me know if you have any concerns about the schedule. and Check out the circular for notes about the new fees, winter recital

September 2010
September was dedicated to celebrate Clara Schumann's compositions. I decided to make a separate page for the Great Composers, adding ideas from the (Composer Hunt) worksheet, that students fill in to gain points in their incentive charts!
New extended timings are available for Piano lessons now, you can take up to 1 and a half hours a session. (only available for adults and advanced students)

August was dedicated to celebrate Debussy's 148th Birth Anniversary, and learn more about him and his pieces!

Summer holidays & Ramadan are almost over, our schedule will go back to the normal timing soon, thus delays and make up lessons should be avoided whenever possible!

Continuity is key to musical progress
The summer schedule is very flexible and I will be available for the rest of the summer as I just came back from my vacation.
Any student who’d like to explore a musical area more deeply... i.e. sight reading, Aural tests, Theory of music..  etc. can let me know and we'll definitely take time to do that!

8th of June was the 200th birth anniversary of the great German composer Robert Schumann.

May 2010
“Truly there would be reason to go mad were it not for music.” ~ Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. May 7th was Tchiakovsky's 170th birth anniversary. As an appreciation for this Russian Romantic Composer, This month was dedicated to learn more about this Great Composer in my Studio, The activities ranged from coloring sheets featuring Tchaikovsky and his Great works to learning new pieces such as Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker.

April 2010
A reason to celebrate! The Dubai College finally received the results of the Music Theory Exams held in February. All the students received satisfactory to distinction ratings as a result of their hard work! And have very Elegant certificates to show off !!  Congratulations to all!

March 2010
Since Theory exam results haven’t been announced yet, there’s no point in delaying my news update!
The past two months, many new musical games have been introduced in the Studio, and They’re a big hit among the Students!
A new incentive program will be introduced in May, so prepare yourselves for more practice to gain musical goodies!
I’m encouraging now students from a very young age to learn about the Great Baroque, Classical and Romantic Composers!

February 2010
Theory of Music Exams were held at Dubai College on Saturday February 27, the results will be announced within a month. I will let you know as soon as we get them.
It’s time now to concentrate more on Practical exams which will be held on April and June!

January 2010
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  That two-week holiday break is awesome, but we are back to our music now.
As of January 4th, lessons have resumed.  Your time slot is the same as before, but if you need to change it, let me know.
